On November 21, the opening ceremony of the Southern University of Science and Technology 10th?Anniversary Sculpture Exhibition was held in Banyan Square.
The ceremony was hosted by University Council Vice Chairperson Fengliang LI. He was joined by Vice Chairman of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Lusheng PAN, Curator of?the National Art Museum of China Weishan WU, SUSTech University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO,?former president of SUSTech Shiyi CHEN, famous sculptor Hong QIAO and other senior leaders of the University.
One hundred twenty sculptures with the themes of science, technology, and the future from 20 countries will be displayed on the campus for forty days.
Yurong GUO said this sculpture exhibition was a new exploration of campus culture construction of SUSTech, and an innovative practice to promote the organic integration of science and technology, culture, and art. Taking the exhibition as an opportunity, SUSTech will deeply explore a new path of integration and resource sharing between national social organizations and universities, further strengthen art education, and jointly create a new mode of cultural education with the society. At the same time, SUSTech will also gather more art and design resources, continuously convey the strong voice of SUSTech culture, and contribute to building Shenzhen into an international pioneer city of cultural innovation and creativity.
Lusheng PAN congratulated the opening of the sculpture exhibition. He said that sculpture is a symbol of culture, a memorial of history, an expression of ideas, and an interpretation of the beauty of art. This exhibition will help to enhance the cultural construction of SUSTech and promote the aesthetic education of the University to a new level. PAN said that SUSTech has always been attaching great importance to the construction of university culture and carrying out a series of aesthetic education activities, which helps to cultivate excellent talents with cultural confidence, national feelings, and innovative spirit of the times.
Weishan WU fully affirmed the rapid and high-quality development of SUSTech in the past ten years. He said that the sculpture exhibition was also a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the 10th anniversary of the founding of the University. He encouraged SUSTech students to cultivate their comprehensive quality and innovation ability with the spirit of artistic and cultural self-cultivation so as to achieve greater growth in the University.
In the ceremony, the National Art Museum of China presented eighty-eight art albums to SUSTech.?
After the ceremony, all the participants visited the campus.
